The Evernote app is one of the most amazing easy-to-use cloud-based note-taking apps out there. It saves a tremendous amount of time and brain power, is accessible everywhere, and can almost serve as a second brain. Below, I’ll give you 7 reasons why you should consider a quick Evernote download today.

7 Reasons for the Evernote Download

Evernote and I Go Back…

I started using Evernote back in 2010, just three years after the company was founded. My initial reasoning for using Evernote was that it looked cool and I needed a better way to organize my notes and ideas. Not only that, but I needed to be able to expand on those ideas at home and while I was out.

To summarize, here were some of my primary issues around notes and organization:

1. Too much paper – old military records, sticky notes, receipts, handwritten notes, journals (some organized, some not)

2. Text files and documents all over my hard drive, in my email, and in other applications as well

3. Unable to capture or build on spur-of-the-moment ideas while out of the house or on the road (call me weird, but I get a lot of crazy ideas while driving)

4. Too much time spent doing handwritten notes and research (as an IT guy and a writer, most of my workflow is digital anyway)

5. Trying to remember too much and forgetting, or getting distracted by nagging thoughts

When I came across Evernote, I was pleasantly surprised because it solved all of those issues above, and then some. Plus, it has evolved over the years and become even better – more agile and able to keep up with our insatiable craving for information. With over 150 million users today and a plethora of use-cases, the number of reasons to do a quick Evernote download has grown.

I will say outright that Evernote is not for EVERyone. Although we live in an age where EVERy home has a computer or mobile device, some just don’t need an app like this. Others even think it’s overkill because of the endless use-cases. Furthermore, some people already have a preferred note-taking app like OneNote (nothing wrong with that).

Evernote Download: Yes or no?

If none of that applies to you, then let me give you 7 core reasons why you should do a quick Evernote download today:

    1. Because it makes your notes and lists accessible anywhere and everywhere (flexibility)

    2. Because it recognizes text in your images and PDFs (searchability)

    3. Because it can save ungodly amounts of trees (eco-friendly)

    4. Because it makes sharing and presenting your notes a breeze (collaboration)

    5. Because it offloads unnecessary mental chatter and reduces distractions (focus)

    6. Because it keeps your notes and research backed up in the cloud (availability)

    7. Because it works with tools and software you already use (integration)

Most of the app’s core functionality is free, but there are Plus (new), Premium (which I use), and Premium for Business subscriptions, which you can check out on Evernote’s website.
