The Evernote app is one of the most amazing easy-to-use cloud-based note-taking apps out there. It saves a tremendous amount of time and brain power, is accessible everywhere, and can almost serve as a second brain. Evernote and I Go Back…
I started using Evernote back in 2010, just three years after the company was founded. My initial reasoning for using Evernote was that it looked cool and I needed a better way to organize my notes and ideas. Not only that, but I needed to be able to expand on those ideas at home and while I was out.
To summarize, here were some of my primary issues around notes and organization:
1. Too much paper – old military records, sticky notes, receipts, handwritten notes, journals (some organized, some not)
2. Text files and documents all over my hard drive, in my email, and in other applications as well
3. Unable to capture or build on spur-of-the-moment ideas while out of the house or on the road (call me weird, but I get a lot of crazy ideas while driving)

When I came across Evernote, I was pleasantly surprised because it solved all of those issues above, and then some. I will say outright that Evernote is not for EVERyone. Although we live in an age where EVERy home has a computer or mobile device, some just don’t need an app like this. Others even think it’s overkill because of the endless use-cases. Furthermore,some people already have a preferred note-taking app like OneNote (nothing wrong with that).
